Sam Anderson

Architectural Designer

Alt Job Title: “Drafting Guy

“Seeing a couple of simple lines that I’ve drawn become a built thing is one of the most surreal and amazing things.”

Sam Anderson

Sam joined our TDS team in 2023.  Since earning his Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota, he has worked in a lot of different realms of architecture and design. Including, spending several years at Taliesin up in Spring Green, WI doing architectural historic preservation. Additionally, working as a fabricator doing furniture, landscape design, cabinetry, and custom millwork. Just before joining TDS, Sam was a Designer and Project Manager working with structural round timber. He is a self proclaimed, “total architecture and design nerd” and is excited to put forth all of his experience and knowledge towards TDS.

Sam attributes his skill set and curiosity to build things to growing up on his family’s farm. He grew up in Northern Minnesota working with his family and spending many (too many) hours behind the wheel of a tractor from a young age. To this day, he still looks for excuses to head home and pitch in.

What do you value about TDS as a company? What makes you proud to work here?

I really appreciate the collaborative team environment, the commitment to the craft of building enduring homes and spaces, and having design and build under one roof.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to hang out with my wife, daughter, and dog, play the guitar, write songs, build furniture, work on my house, and eat really good food.

What is your favorite tool?

My sketchbook.
